Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and PT Hanya Planet Bumi ("Curie", "we", "us"), a company incorporated in the Republic of Indonesia, governing your access to and use of the Curie web application, browser extension, APIs, and related services (the "Service").

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service. If you accept these Terms on behalf of a university, department, or other organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.

• "Content" means documents, outlines, notes, comments, chat messages, uploaded files, references, and any other material you create, upload, or store in the Service.
• "Output" means material generated by the Service's AI features in response to your instructions.
• "Plan" means the subscription tier applicable to your account, together with the usage allowances published on the Pricing page.
• "Workspace" means a shared environment in which you and invited collaborators may access common projects and documents.

• You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age applicable in your jurisdiction, and have the legal capacity to enter into a contract.
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current, and you must verify your email address before the account is activated.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity conducted under your account, including by collaborators you invite.
• Accounts are personal. You may not share, resell, lease, or transfer an account, or permit access by any person other than the named user, except through the Workspace features we provide.
• You must notify us promptly at hello@curie.id if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

The Service provides tools for academic research and writing, including AI-assisted drafting and autocomplete, literature search and citation management, reference checking, structured literature review, document review, slide generation, and an AI research chat. The features available to you depend on your Plan.

We develop the Service continuously and may add, modify, or discontinue features. Where a change would materially reduce functionality included in a paid Plan, we will give at least 30 days' notice, and you may cancel and receive a pro-rated refund of the unused portion of your prepaid term.

5.1 Subscriptions

• Curie offers a free plan and paid plans billed monthly or annually in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Prices are shown on the Pricing page and are inclusive of applicable Indonesian VAT unless stated otherwise.
• Payments are processed by our payment provider, Doku. By subscribing you authorise the applicable recurring charges to your selected payment method.
• Paid plans renew automatically for successive billing periods until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from Settings; access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
• Usage allowances (such as AI completions, edits, chats, uploads, and reviews) apply per Plan and reset daily or monthly as described on the Pricing page. Exceeding an allowance suspends the affected feature until the next reset or until you upgrade.

5.2 Price changes and refunds

• We may change prices with at least 30 days' prior notice; changes take effect from your next billing period, and you may cancel before then.
• Except where required by consumer protection law or expressly provided in our Refund Policy, payments are non-refundable, including for partially used periods.
• Failed or reversed payments may result in suspension of paid features until the balance is settled.

• You retain all ownership rights in your Content. We claim no ownership over it.
• You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit, and display your Content, and to transmit the excerpts necessary to AI providers, solely to operate and support the Service for you. This licence ends when you delete the Content or your account, except for copies retained in backups for the limited period described in our Privacy Policy.
• We do not use your Content to train AI models and we do not disclose it to other users.
• As between you and us, and to the extent permitted by law, you own the Output generated in your documents; we assign to you any rights we may hold in it. Output is generated statistically and may not be unique — comparable Output may be produced for other users.
• You represent that you hold the necessary rights to all Content you upload and that it does not infringe the rights of others or breach any confidentiality, ethics approval, or data protection obligation binding on you.

Curie is an assistive tool and is not a substitute for your own scholarship, judgement, or verification. You agree that you will:

• Comply with the academic integrity, plagiarism, authorship, and AI-disclosure policies of your institution, supervisor, funder, and any publisher to which you submit.
• Independently verify every citation, quotation, figure, and factual claim before relying on it or submitting it — AI systems can misattribute or fabricate references.
• Disclose your use of AI assistance wherever disclosure is required, using the authorship and declaration tools we provide where helpful.
• Take responsibility as the author for the final work you submit or publish.

We provide integrity features (citation verification, authorship logging, declaration drafting) as aids. They do not guarantee compliance with any particular institutional or publisher policy, and using them does not transfer responsibility to us.

You must not, and must not permit any other person to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, or fraudulent purpose, or to produce content that violates the law.
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent usage allowances, rate limits, authentication, or any other technical restriction.
• Access, probe, or interfere with another user's account, data, or workspace, or with the integrity or performance of the Service.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service, or use it to build, train, or benchmark a competing product.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law.
• Upload malware, or use the Service to distribute unsolicited communications.
• Resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties other than through the Workspace features and licences we make available.

AI features generate content automatically and probabilistically. Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, biased, or misleading, and may include references, statistics, or quotations that do not exist or do not support the proposition for which they are cited. Output does not constitute academic, legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and validating all Output before relying on, submitting, or publishing it.

The Service, including its software, interfaces, design, documentation, trade marks, and all content we supply (excluding your Content and Output), is owned by Curie or its licensors and protected by Indonesian and international intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

If you send us suggestions, feature requests, or other feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use and incorporate it without restriction, obligation, or compensation. We will not identify you as the source without your consent.

The Service interoperates with third-party providers, including AI model providers, academic databases and indexes (such as OpenAlex, Crossref, DOAJ, CORE, and Semantic Scholar), reference managers you choose to connect, and our payment provider. Your use of those services may be governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party content, including the accuracy, availability, licensing, or completeness of records or documents surfaced through search, nor for the availability of an integration a provider may change or withdraw.

• We aim for high availability but do not commit to a specific uptime level on standard plans. Planned maintenance will be announced in advance where practicable.
• Features labelled beta, preview, or experimental are provided for evaluation, may change or be withdrawn without notice, and are excluded from any commitment in these Terms.
• Support is provided by email at hello@curie.id during Indonesian business hours. Institutional agreements may include additional commitments.

• You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account.
• We may suspend or restrict access immediately where necessary to protect the Service, other users, or a third party — for example on suspected fraud, security compromise, or unlawful use — and will notify you as soon as reasonably practicable.
• We may terminate this agreement for material breach that remains uncured 14 days after written notice, or for non-payment.
• On termination your licence to use the Service ends. You are responsible for exporting your Content beforehand; we will retain it for 30 days after termination unless you request earlier deletion.
• Sections concerning ownership, feedback, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law survive termination.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR PURPOSE. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, INCLUDING INDONESIAN CONSUMER PROTECTION LAW.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEITHER PARTY SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY, OR ACADEMIC STANDING, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR IDR 500,000.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Curie, its affiliates, and their personnel from and against any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising from your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of applicable law.

Neither party is liable for failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, epidemics, war, civil unrest, governmental action, power or telecommunications failure, or the failure of an upstream provider, provided the affected party takes reasonable steps to mitigate the effects.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The parties shall first attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute amicably within 30 days of written notice. Failing resolution, the dispute shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Indonesia, save that mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence continue to apply where they cannot be excluded by agreement.

• Assignment — you may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
• Severability — if any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder continues in full force and the provision is modified to the minimum extent necessary.
• No waiver — a failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
• Notices — we may give notice by email to your registered address or by posting in the Service; you may give notice to hello@curie.id.
• Entire agreement — these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Billing, and Refund Policy pages, constitute the entire agreement between us regarding the Service and supersede prior discussions, except where a signed institutional agreement applies, which prevails to the extent of any conflict.
• Language — these Terms are published in English; a Bahasa Indonesia translation may be provided for convenience, and the English version prevails in the event of a discrepancy, to the extent permitted by law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new date, and material changes will be notified in the Service or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance; if you do not accept, you may cancel your subscription and delete your account.
